After the acclaimed Contact, a full-length contemporary dance production co-produced by LAPAR lab and Dance Program University of Malaya on Mac 2009, LAPAR lab is back to action again in the dance scene and presents Triangular Prism to you on May 2010. Triangular Prism, a triangular body in transparent form, often of glass, used to separate light into colourful spectrum, is interpreted as an analogue of the intentions of three female choreographers for visualizing and reflecting their current thoughts and feelings.
The particular contemporary dance performance consists of works from three female choreographers; Crystal Low Sim Wei, Kathyn Tan Chai Chen and Louise Yow Sing Hwa. Trained in contemporary dance, three of them have been involved extensively in theatrical performing arts as performers locally and abroad, besides proving to be sought-after dance instructors and administrative. Now, they start to carve their names for themselves as choreographers, based on their unique experiences and personal emotional landscape.

Synopsis : This is a hip hop event that consist of free workshops during the day and inter-college competition at night. This event aims to break the stereotype that associates hiphop with drugs and clubs.

Other Information : During the Dance Carnival (11am-4pm), there will be free dance workshops provided, offered by various dance schools in Klang Valley. There will also be special performance by Inversion Crew. Admission is free for all. During the Dance Competition (5.30pm til late), crews from various universities will battle it out in Beginner and Advanced categories. The competition will be judged by Fellest Yan (Royal Phantom), Bobby Tan (Street Nation), and Cecilia Yong (winner of So You Think You Can Dance). There will also be special guest performances by dance crews from Royal Phantom and Street Nation. After prize giving ceremony, audience members are free to dance off on the dance floor! Tickets are sold at RM15, RM20 and RM30. Cash prizes of up to RM1000 will be awarded to the winner of Dance Competition.

Broadway fans are in for a treat as West Side Story comes to KL – one of the most memorable musicals loosely based on the timeless tale of Romeo and Juliet. First performed on Broadway in 1957, the musical has thrilled audiences with its tragic tale of romance against a backdrop of violent gang rivalry in New York City.
